5 Steps to Installing Wallpaper
Measure Space
Take measurements of the walls the wallpaper will be applied to. Order enough wallpaper to ensure you have room to cut out smaller pieces when necessary. Keep in mind how the design will play into how much is needed. Some pieces may need to be cut according to door frames and the like. Our Oceana wallpaper is great for a simple pattern as it repeats and is easy to lay out for a seamless finish.

Make a Game Plan
Lay out the wallpaper, select which pieces will go where, and which pieces will need modifications. To flatten the wallpaper, roll the paper out and then again in the opposite direction. Make sure the patterns match up and that there is enough wallpaper to cover the space.

3. Prepare the Room
Use a spackle to fill in any holes in the walls. Protect the floor and things that cannot be removed (i.e., bathroom vanity) by covering them in a plastic sheet. Measure out where the pieces will go using a pencil. Turn off the electricity and remove any electrical plates and lights. Sand the walls and apply wall size to the entire wall space for thorough adhesion.
4. Start Hanging the Wallpaper
Pour the glue into a tray and use a roller to apply it smoothly, free of clumps. Pay special attention to the area that appears at eye level to be sure it is particularly perfect. Use as long of pieces as possible without cutting to achieve a straighter appearance. Hang the first piece according to the markings you made and use your hands to apply the pieces to the wall.
Once the pieces are in place, use a smoother. Do not smooth too hard. Wipe as you go so the adhesive does not dry on the visible surface of the wallpaper.

5. Corners and Seams
Seams between wallpaper pieces are necessary and often are best when planned around the corner. Leave around 1/6-1/8 inch of excess paper when covering a corner to save room to either trim or go on the other wall. Use a roller to clean up and conceal the seams.
